Relates to FTS-05 Future trends in technology and society and how to evaluate sources

Task

In phase 2, you work with ILIAS, with an artificial intelligence (AI) service and with Zotero. In this exercise, you learn how to use them for your question. Do tasks 1 and 2 in the exercise time of FTS-05 and tasks 3 to 6 on your own until FTS-06, one after the other. If you get stuck, open the step-by-step guide below the task – and help each other.

1 Join the group of your future trend

Sign up for your future trend by joining its group in the ILIAS course of this module. Each group has four places; if the group of your trend is full, choose another trend. If you are alone in your trend at the end of the exercise time, join a trend group that still has free places.

2 Ask to join the Zotero group FTS-resources-2

Ask to join my Zotero group, in which I provide the source packages of phase 2.

3 Put your question to your AI service twice and save both answers

Put your question twice to the AI service that is specified for your trend: word for word, with the same service and the same model and mode, in a new chat. If your service can remember earlier chats, ask both times in a temporary chat without memory, where it offers one. Save both complete answers with the sources they name. Do this only after you have written down your own answer in the session. Note the date, the name of the service and, where the service shows them, the model and the mode, for example an instant or a thinking mode. You find your AI service in the table in FTS-05, 3.2.

4 Check whether the sources exist

Check for each source that the AI service names in your two answers whether it exists and whether it says what the AI service claims. Note the result for each source: exists; exists, but with errors in its details; or not found. If the AI service names no source, note this as your result.

5 Compare the two answers

Compare your two answers and note the result. On your poster, you quote what you examine from both answers and, in the column for the AI answer, you report what the comparison has shown (FTS-05, 2.5).

6 Read a text with the tools and note a statement in Zotero

Read a text from the source package of your pair with the tools from FTS-05, chapter 2, and note in Zotero a statement that you want to use – in your own words, with the short reference and the page – together with your answers to the questions of the tools. Your pair agrees with the other pair who takes which source package: one pair uses the collection ending in -A, the other the collection ending in -B, for example ‘Phase2-Trend07-A’ and ‘Phase2-Trend07-B’ for trend 7. If your trend group has only two or three members, divide yourselves so that each of the two source packages is taken by at least one of you. The number is the number of the section on your trend in FTS-05, chapter 4. In the group library FTS-resources-2, you can read, but not change anything. Therefore, you work with a copy in your own library, ‘My Library’.
