Here you will find information and tips on the formal structure of written work during your studies. This includes assignments in numerous modules, Mastery Papers in the Edu-Tech modules, and final theses in bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes. This information is intended as a guide for written work supervised by Prof. Jungmann. In its PDF version this guide itself is largely designed according to the rules described here in order to give you an idea of the target state. But as it is not an academic paper it is not required to contain all elements (e.g. List of abbreviations, Overview of tools used).

The rules described in this guide are derived both from the general rules of academic work and writing, as well as from my need for readability, comprehensibility, and comparability of the papers I supervise. The guide is binding for these papers – and only for these papers.

Deviations from these guidelines will result in a lower grade for your work, unless the deviation has been discussed and agreed upon during the supervision meeting. Therefore, please read the guidelines carefully to ensure that your paper is formally correct and thus emphasises its value.

If you still have questions about the formal design after carefully reading the information and notes, please send me an email to clarify your question. If the question relates directly to your work, please address the issue in the supervision meeting.

This guide is intended to supplement the information contained in the current examination regulations for your degree programme.
